International Madness

These friendlies are basically a nuisance, especially if you're a US fan.  The entire core of the team outside of Landon Donovan won't play.  Deuce, Gooch, Davies, and Feilhaber are all out, and it's 50/50 whether they'll suit up against England on June 12.  What this game would be a perfect opportunity for Bob Bradley to do is try a new formation, such as a 4-3-3, because we know there isn't anyone outside of Davies who can play with Altidore.  Both Brian Ching and Conor Casey are big fat donkeys, and I don't care how many goals they scored against Honduras.  If either of Frick and Frack start any World Cup game, pack up the cats.

For me, and not to parrot what ESPN Soccernet is talking about, the biggest thing to watch is Maurice Edu.  While I love what Ricardo Clark can do, Maurice Edu is what he would be when he grows up.  As a defensive midfielder, I'm not sure the US can go wrong with these two.  What Bradley must figure out is what it is exactly his son does.  Is he a defensive mid?  Attacking one?  Hybrid?  We'll have to find out.

On the backend, I'd like to see Jay DeMerit get back to his Confed Cup form.  Quite frankly I have nightmares about Carlos Bocanegra in the center of defense.  But then again, Boca at left back also gives my heartburn.  Either way, it would be nice to have options back there, and DeMerit has proved he can be one in the past.  We still have no fullbacks, and Jonathan Bornstein is an answer to a question no one's asking.

Looking forward to it, I'll have thoughts after.

As for England, basically they need to wrap Wayne Rooney in cotton-wool until June.  Tonight would be a perfect chance to see if James Milner can play in the middle of the park at the highest level, but with Steven Gerrard captaining the squad, that's probably not going to happen.  Aside from that, there isn't much on the line for the three lions tonight.

Yuck

Hopefully Bornstein removed himself from starting LB talk for SA. That was bad. DeMerit was solid, so if/when we get Onyewu back, they could move Boca out there, which is less horrible than Bornstein.

Insanity is just a state of mind.

2. Evertonians kidnap Landon and keep him there till the end of the season
3. Clint returns and commits to playing both ways
